Q. What are Nano Brows?
A. This is NOT microblading! Nano is a technique of semi-permanent tattoo that uses a fine Nano needle and it is much more gentle on the skin (as compared to microblading) and is performed completely differently. There is no cutting of the skin, no blood, less painful and is better for a much broader range of skin types.

Q. Does it hurt?
A. With every service provided there is a topical numbing cream applied prior to the start of the service to ease any discomfort. However, each client will have a different level for pain tolerance. Most people rate the pain level between a 1-3 on a scale of 1-10 ( 10 being extremely painful). I also use a secondary numbing in the middle of the treatment for added comfort.

Q. How long is one session?

A. You should expect to spend about 2.5 hours (3 hours for Nano) at your first appointment. What will take the most time is mapping your brows, the actual application of the pigment itself is relatively quick. Touch ups and preliminary consultation appointments also require less time than the first visit.

Q. How long does it last?
A. Nano/Combo & Powder Brows are semi-permanent method of tattooing that ideally lasts up to 3 years in the skin depending on the skin type. This technique requires an eight-week touch up after the initial session to complete the brows. You should plan to come back in for a touch-up appointment about 5-8 weeks after your first session.

Q. How much downtime is required after one session?
A. There is a 7 to 10 day healing period. During that time you will need to avoid no direct contact with water on your brows. (so no working out). After care ointment will be provided to help your brows heal.

Q. How can I prepare for my appointment?

A.

·         Don’t wax or tweeze your eyebrows a week prior to treatment.

·         Avoid alcohol, caffeine, ibuprofen, aspirin, and fish oil supplements at least 24 hours prior to treatment.

·         Don’t get a facial at least 2 weeks prior to treatment.

·         Don’t sunbathe or tan the day of your procedure.

·         Don’t use retinol or Vitamin A products 1 month prior to treatment.

Q. What if I have previous tattoos?

A. Previous tattoos don’t always exclude you from getting Nano brows, but the procedure becomes a little more complicated. A consultation is required before booking an appointment. In some cases, removal or lightening of the previous tattoo is a requirement in order to achieve the desired look. I do offer removal/ lightening service for such cases.

Q. What can I expect during my treatment?

A. The appointment process to create your beautiful, new, 3D brows will take about two and a half hours from start to finish. The session will include a thorough consultation, brow mapping/sculpting, skin numbing, choosing your pigment and then the tattoo application. Future appointments require less time because they are designed to reinforce the work done in the initial session.

Q. How do I determine which brow style is best for me?
A:
Nano Brows (Digital Microblading)

For clients that would typically describe themselves as having dry skin and would like their brows to have the appearance of more hair like strokes.

Ombre Powder Brows
For clients that would typically describe themselves as having oily or combination skin and would like their brows to have the appearance of being filled in with powder.

Combination Brows

For clients that like the powdered and hair stroke look then the combination brow service is the best option.

Q. Can I change the type of service I want after I've already booked my appointment?
A.
Yes, once you arrive at your appointment and do your consult you may decide to change the type of service you prefer.

Q. What if I want to do tattoo removal first?

A. For clients with a previous tattoo looking for removal services please send a photo of your brows to shanteyuslay@gmail.com subject line: BROW REMOVAL REQUEST.  I will review your brows and make a recommendation if the removal process is the best service.
Please be aware that it may take more than one session to remove the old tattoo.

Q. Can anyone have semi-permanent makeup?

A. The short answer is no. While it’s suitable for most people, there are certain reasons that I can’t treat everyone. Before undergoing treatment, clients are always made aware that certain contraindications can prevent me from proceeding. These include:

·         High blood pressure or heart conditions

·         Taking blood-thinners such as aspirin or similar medication

·         Diabetes

·         Pregnant or lactating

·         Glaucoma

·         Herpes simplex

·         Certain skin conditions e.g. rashes, blisters, psoriasis, or eczema

·         Taking steroids such as cortisone, Accutane or Retin-A

·         Allergy to makeup

·         Acute acne in the treatment area

·         Susceptibility to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation

·         Hypertrophic scarring or keloids

·         Spider veins or a birthmark in the area they want to be treated

·         Blood disorder e.g. sickle cell anemia, hemophilia, or a platelet disorder

For some of the above, I may also ask that you provide written authorization from your doctor before we can proceed.
